College Scholarships Available at Centre for Molecular and Cellular Biology of Inflammation, Division of Immunology, Infection and Inflammatory Diseases
Study Subject: Immunobiology
Employer: King’s College London
Scholarships Level: Postdoctoral
College Scholarships Description: The Academic Department of Rheumatology seeks to recruit a postdoctoral research associate to coordinate and develop research activities in immunobiology within the field of chronic inflammatory autoimmune diseases. This research post will be based within the Centre for Molecular and Cellular Biology of Inflammation. This centre is now established on the Guy’s Campus of King’s College London, in New Hunt’s House, in 1200 sq metres of laboratories which have recently been refurbished. The successful candidate will be expected to lead, under the supervision of Prof Cope, a group of laboratory staff whose principal aim is to investigate how aberrant T cell antigen receptor (TCR) signal transduction pathways contribute to the pathogenesis of chronic inflammatory diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis (RA). In vivo models will underpin projects that seek to understand the mechanisms through which altered TCR signaling thresholds perturb pathways of activation, differentiation, adhesion and migration of effector T cells. Emphasis will be placed on dissecting pathways that regulate trafficking to the synovial joint, employing novel imaging technologies.
The post holder will be expected to have prior postdoctoral experience. A detailed knowledge of applied cellular immunology in the context of analysis of signal transduction pathways or cell migration would be a distinct advantage, but is not essential.
For further Scholarships details of the post, please contact Prof Andrew Cope, Arthritis Research UK Professor of Rheumatology, Head, Academic Department of Rheumatology, King’s College School of Medicine,1st floor, New Hunt’s House, Great Maze Pond, Guy’s Hospital Campus, London SE1 1UL (andrew.cope-at-kcl.ac.uk).
